Friday Five: Valentines Day Treats

It’s officially the month of l-o-v-e! 😍

We have a bunch of exciting posts planned for this month and what better way to kick it off than with food!? Even better, giving treats to those you care about is a great way to show you how much you love and appreciate them. We headed to Pinterest to find some mouth-watering recipes you all need to try! Red Velvet Truffles

Ingredients

  • 20-24 red velvet Oreos
  • 8 oz brick of cream cheese – softened
  • 12 oz bag of white chocolate melts or chips
  • Valentines sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a large baking pan with wax or parchment paper
  • In a food processor, mix the Oreo cookies into crumbs and add the softened cream cheese – mix well with a rubber spatula then cover and chill for 30 minutes
  • Roll mixture into 1″ balls and place on lined baking sheet
  • Melt white chocolate chips under low/medium heat, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth
  • Dip balls into melted chocolate and place on lined baking sheet, immediately covering with sprinkles
  • Let cool and enjoy!

Sweetheart Puppy Chow

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate melts or chips
  • 1/4 cup chocolate melts or chips
  • 2 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup red velvet cake mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Valentines m & m’s
  • Heart sprinkles

Instructions

  • Place Rice Chex into a large bowl
  • Pour red velvet cake mix and powdered sugar into a large plastic bag or Tupperware with lid
  • Melt chocolates together, stirring until smooth
  • Add cream cheese to chocolate and stir until mixed well
  • Pour over Rice Chex cereal & stir until coated
  • Dump cereal into bag or Tupperware with powdered sugar and red velvet cake mix – shake until covered
  • Dump onto cookie sheet and let cool – mix sprinkles with extra sprinkles and serve

Reese’s Heart Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for rolling dough in)
  • 1 package Reese’s peanut butter hearts

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • In large bowl, stir peanut butter and sugar together until smooth. Beat in eggs, then stir in baking soda, salt, and vanilla.
  • Place 1/2 cup sugar in a small bowl
  • Roll dough into 1″ balls and roll into sugar
  • Place cookies 2″ apart on greased cookie sheet
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, placing a Reese’s heart on top of cookies after removing from oven

Oreo Pops

Ingredients

  • 1 package Double Stuff Oreos
  • Lollipop sticks
  • White candy melts or chips
  • Pink candy melts
  • Sprinkles of choice

Instructions

  • Begin by firmly holding an Oreo between your thumb and middle finger. Place your index finger over the top of your Oreo and push a lollipop stick up through the filling of the Oreo. Stop once you feel the creme push up against your finger.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of pretzel rods (or your personal preference)
  • 1 package chocolate melts
  • Assorted sprinkles

Instructions

  • Melt chocolate, stirring until smooth
  • Line to baking sheets with wax or parchment paper
  • Dip your pretzel into chocolate, tapping gently on side or bowl to shake off any excess
  • Sprinkle with your choice and allow to cool for 30 minutes
