Friday Five: Treat Yo Self

Ugh, it’s finally the weekend!

I don’t know about you, but come Friday, I need some serious me-time and treating myself from time to time. This could be in the form of . . .

  1. Reading a book
  2. Snuggling on the couch watching a movie
  3. Painting my nails
  4. Indulging in decadent desert
  5. Purchasing some new closet goodies

But most of the time it’s in the form of face masks. My absolute favorite one is my honey, cinnamon and nutmeg mask. Not only does it smell like fall on your face, it’s so so so good for your skin as well! I first learned about this mask from Elle Fowler (AllThatGlitters21) from Youtube WAY back in the day . . . like 8 years or so!

Tried and true, this mask brightens, clears breakouts and evens out skin tone. It declogs pores and brings oxygen and blood to the surface. Honey is naturally antibacterial so it’s great for acne. It also is full of antioxidants so it slows down the signs of aging. It’s moisturizing and smoothing, helping create a natural glow! Cinnamon helps treat pimples and acne scars. It increases collagen levels aka reducing signs of aging. It’s also an incredible exfoliant to soften and soothe dry and dead skin. Like honey, cinnamon is antibacterial and anti-fungal which enhances skin complexion. Nutmeg is anti-inflammatory which reduces the sight of pimples and it also helps heal acne scars as well. It’s a natural astringent, moisturizer and exfoliant – all properties that help skin imperfections.

As you can see, the combination of all three makes for a very powerful and effective mask!

To make . . .

Mix 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg. Apply to face and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse and follow-up with skin-care regimen.
